Metal bonding

Stork Fokker has developed metal-bonding techniques to provide durability, high strength and low weight in aerostructures.

Typical applications include: beams and spars; leading-edge components; fuselage skin panels; and flying-control surfaces (elevators, rudders, spoilers, and speedbrakes).

Typically, such technology involves the bonding of aluminium sheets or honeycomb with phenolic and epoxy-based adhesives. Anodised aluminium elements are bonded in autoclave ovens.
